PNF
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation
PNF is a method concerned exclusively with the stimulation of the proprioceptive receptors to improve the communication between the muscle and nervous system.
The physiotherapist stimulates the proprioceptive receptors by performing a small stretch and rotatory movements aimed in increasing their width or to achieve complete recovery of movement. The exercises occur on the two basic body diagonals, which include groups of muscles that are responsible for the smooth and natural behavior of the torso and limbs.
PNF comprises a wonderful technique that focuses on the natural reaction of the muscles by protecting the joints and tissue, with the ultimate objective being to improve the communication between the muscular and the nervous system. The method is recommended to athletes, persons that suffer from neurological conditions, muscle atrophy, multiple sclerosis etc.
IMPORTANT
THE TECHNIQUES ARE TOOLS. IF THEY FALL IN THE WRONG HANDS, THESE TECHNIQUES CAN BE HARMFUL.
